Transport

Primary schools

South Lanarkshire Council  provide school transport for primary school pupils who live one mile or more from their catchment primary school by the shortest safe walking route.

This may mean being given a bus pass for use on local bus services, contract buses hired for the service, small vehicles (including taxis, private hire cars or minibuses) or the Council’s own transport where appropriate.

Primary school pupils may also be entitled to free transport:

  • if they have been recommended for school transport by their doctor and the school medical officer for health reasons
  • if they attend a specialist school or centre recommended by the Council
  • if they have to walk a route which is considered unsafe in relation to the Road Safety Forum guidelines.

Boys are girls who travel to Dalserf Primary by school bus are collected in the morning and dropped at school in time for the 9.00am bell.

At the end of the school day the children get ready to leave when the bus bell rings at 2.55pm. They leave under the supervision of a member of staff just prior to the 3.00pm bell to allow the bus to exit the carpark quickly while other parents are awaiting their children.

The school bus may not operate on days when the weather is very snowy if it proves too dangerous or a road is impassable.
